History

William A. Erwin came west with his parents in 1862, as a young man he got a  education in
Franklin county, New York. After marring in 1866 and having six children, he located to Delavan Lake were he ran a resort, Strow’s Park. He ran it for about nine years, which became a favorite gathering place each summer for hundreds of tourists and visitors to the beautiful lake region. After selling William moved to Green Lake and resumed farming for 13 years, then locatied to Turtle Lake and continued farming for 3 years then sold out and bought a farm in Darien township.

A dam constructed on  Honey creek in the mid 1800s helped raise water levels and continues to maintain the water level of the lakes. The dam allows visitors to enjoy  16 miles of shoreline. Approximately 70 percent of the shoreline is developed with homes and businesses.

visitors can choose to stay at lakefront resorts, bed and breakfasts, hotels, campgrounds or cabins. Besides the lake, this resort area offers a nine hole gulf course on the eastern shore of Mill Lake.

Lauderdales Lakes is close to Lake Geneva and  the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

Green Lake Information:

Green Lake is a 283 acre lake located in Walworth County.The hydrologic  type is a spring. It has a maximum depth of 57 feet and the lake’s water is moderately clear. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fishermen can expect to catch  Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

Middle Lake Information:

Middle Lake is a 197 acre lake located in Walworth County. The hydrologic  type is Drainage, the floor is made up of 75% muck and 25% sand. It has a maximum depth of 57 feet. The lake’s water is moderately clear.Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.

Mill Lake Information:

Mill Lake is a 250 acre lake located in Walworth County. The hydrologic  type is Drainage, the floor is made up of 70% muck, 20% sand and 10% gravel. It has a maximum depth of 57 feet the lake’s water is moderately clear.and  Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.
